HOW WE USE THE INFORMATION WE COLLECT
Delivering answers to questions
Most critically we use the information we collect from POPin to deliver the core functionality of POPin. This includes collecting and analyzing your questions, answers, comments, and votes.
Providing, improving, and developing services
We also use the information to deliver amazing products to you, and to keep improving those products, such as rearranging or adding and removing features or capabilities to help you more successfully use the product. We may use and retain any data we collect to provide and improve any of our services.
Providing safety and security
We also use this information to provide, maintain, protect and improve our services, to develop new ones, and to protect ourselves and our users. For example, we might use that data in investigating suspicious activity or violations in our Terms of Service.
Communicating with you
We may use the information we collect or receive to communicate with you directly for the purposes of providing POPin to our customers and for our own business purposes. For example, you may receive emails from us on behalf of your Company or Organization asking for your responses or votes. We may also send our own emails containing company updates, changes to our product, customer service responses, or special offers.
HOW WE SHARE THE INFORMATION WE COLLECT
To provide POPin’s core functionality we provide the following information to the person, Organization, or Company that used POPin to ask a question.
For any question we will provide:
- The set of answers
- All comments on answers to the question.
- The total votes
For questions that explicitly non-anonymous, or named, we will also provide:
- The set of answers
- All related comments
- The total votes
- Who answered, commented, or voted, and their answers, comments, or votes
One of POPin’s key features is for users to ask questions that can be answered anonymously. In those cases we do NOT share a person’s name, email address, or other identifiers about the individual who provided a specific answer, comment, or vote when participating in those questions with the Company or Organization asking the question. We also will NOT provide information on what content or action a specific individual has taken.
However, it is possible that the Company or Organization asking the question could guess or infer that a particular individual provided a response based on the content of the response.
We will also provide analysis of aggregated insight-related data for any question. This analysis is for a group of participants, not for individual participants. Examples may include:
- Analysis by participant location, gender, or age
- Mobile vs Web usage
We also provide information to third parties as follows:
Information you share with others
POPin lets you share information with others, for example, through emails or posting to social networks.
Our Service Providers
We engage third-party business partners to perform functions and provide services to us, like Amazon for data storage. Those business partners will be given limited access to your information as is reasonably necessary to provide service to POP.
We do not rent, sell, or share personal information about you that we collect through POPin with other people or unaffiliated companies for their direct marketing purposes, unless we have your permission. We may allow access to data collected by POPin to send you information we think may be useful or relevant to you.
Compliance with the Law
We may retain and disclose your information, including your identity for anonymous answers or comments if we believe it’s appropriate or necessary in order to comply with the law, such as to comply with a subpoena, regulation or legal request, respond to a government request, to address fraud or security issues, to protect the safety of any person, or to protect our own rights or property.
If POP is involved in a merger, acquisition, reorganization or sale of assets or bankruptcy, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction. We may take steps to notify users via email and/or a prominent notice on our website of any change in ownership.
Should we need to share data about POPin usage with third parties (such as investors or partners), we will aggregate it and strip it of all personal information.
We take steps to protect the information we collect in our systems from unauthorized access, alteration, disclosure or destruction. We use administrative, physical and electronic measures designed to protect your information. We also evaluate, test, and improve our security infrastructure and processes.
In the event that your personal information is compromised as a result of a breach of security, we will notify you as required by applicable law.
We do not knowingly collect, maintain, or use personal information from children under 13 years of age, and no part of POPin is directed to children under the age of 13. If you learn that your child has provided us with personal information without your consent, you may alert us at firstname.lastname@example.org. If we learn that we have collected any personal information from children under 13, we will promptly take steps to delete such information and terminate the child’s account.
UPDATE YOUR INFORMATION
Your personal information may be transferred to computers located in California, or other states within the United States and thus outside of your state, province, country or other governmental jurisdiction where the privacy laws may not be as protective as those where you reside. By using POPin you agree to this transfer to the United States and processing globally, and consent and agree that the laws of California and the United States of America, and no other jurisdictions, govern this agreement.
